About

Who we are

Tony and Andrea Cirranello design and craft the fine custom furniture and cabinetry at Kodama. Tony brings his more than 25 years of experience in fine interiors and yachts to the company. Andrea is active in the design process, often focusing on the functional aspects of pieces under design. Both Tony and Andrea take the time to provide personal, detailed attention to their clients and promise a friendly voice on the phone; quick responses to questions; and knowledgeable, punctual, courteous personnel. For both Tony and Andrea, the greatest reward is to see clients return again and again to work with them.

What’s in a name?

Kodama (pronunciation: Koh – dah – mah) are Japanese tree spirits, similar to the dryads of Greek mythology. Trees thought to be inhabited by kodama were revered in Japan. To us, our company name reflects our commitment to fine woodworking; an interest in handmade versus mass-produced pieces; and a commitment to environmental stewardship in our company and our community.

Woodworking

At Kodama, every piece we create is made – from start to finish – by hand in our own shop.  We use traditional wood joinery techniques on solid wood. You won’t see any particleboard or MDF.  We don’t use computers and CNC machines.  And we don’t order pieces, such as dovetail drawer boxes or moldings, from large manufacturers.  You can learn more here.

Beautiful things

We love beautiful things. Distinctive, handmade pieces that are thoughtfully designed, crafted with care, and presented with pride. We want each piece we create to be functional and durable, and to have the small thoughtful details that are the hallmark of craftsmanship honed over the course of a career. You can watch more here.

Earth Friendly

We minimize our environmental impact. Whenever possible, we reduce waste and reuse materials, use Forest Stewardship Council certified wood, and apply environmentally friendly finishes. You can learn more here.
